The Serbian Ministry of Interior will rent its equipment and personnel for the filmming "Coriolanus" directed by actor Ralph Fiennes.

Speaking at a meeting with the British movie star on Thursday, Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said his ministry fully supported the project "not only for financial reasons" but also because it is "a great opportunity for Serbia's promotion on the international film market."

The actor's debut movie, where he will also play a main role, "Coriolanus" is a modern version of Shakespeare's play, about the life of the famous Roman leader Gaius Marcius Coriolanus.

The shooting is scheduled for March 2010 and will last from eight to 12 weeks. Some 4 million dollars out of 20, which is the total budget of the movie, is foreseen to be spent in Serbia.

The Schindler's List star, Ralph Fiennes, visited Belgrade a couple of times during the last year, accompanied by the producer and set designer, in search of appropriate locations for his movie. The team visited Stari Dvor (The Old Palace), the new and old National Bank buildings, the IMT factories in Zemun and “Palata Srbija” as well as the locations around Deliblatska pescara, Petrovaradin Fortress and the Pink film studio in the town of Simanovci.

The two also discussed using the National Assembly building for the movie's main scene.

Dacic also expressed his hope that the project would attract other producers to Serbia.
